Submissions
The steps for submitting your information to stock-photo-research.com are as follows:

1. Modify your web site to meet our listing requirements. These requirements are listed in the last section of this page.

2. Download one of the database files listed lower down on this page. We provide the database in three formats depending upon what software you have available to you.

3. Fill in all the data required. In the Excel Spreadsheet you will find additional information to fill in if you scroll to the right. Please replace or delete the Sample Information already entered with your own information.

4. Rename the file with your own name. This will help us keep organized.

5. Email the completed material to iris@stock-photo-research.com as an attachment.

6. If your site meets the requirements, it will be listed in several weeks. We reserve the right to not list web sites that do not meet requirements such as addressing Usage and Copyright issues.

Before submitting your own information, consider the following ideas:

A. Photography organizations or chapters can choose to collect information from interested members and submit the entire group to us in one fell swoop. This would be great!
B. Several people can set up a "chain letter" where the database or excel file can be filled out, sent to the next person on the list, filled out again and then finally sent to us. Even if only two people submit information at a time, this will save us lots of time.

The database files can be returned at any time; however, we are planning a deadline of June 7, 1999 for the first set of submissions. When you email the files back to us, please change the name of the file to your chapter's name or your name. You can imagine what would happen if all the files had the same name. Thanks!

Note: before we can accept any submissions, the web site being added must meet several requirements discussed in the last section of this page.

Web Site Listing Requirements

To be added to the web site is free of charge but your website must satisfy several requirements to be listed:

Reciprocal Links - required
For someone to be listed on stock-photo-research.com, they must have a reciprocal link to the URL:
http://www.stock-photo-research.com/photography.links/
The search engines will only rank a site higher if many other related sites link to it. Everyone should use the same logo on their entrance or home page as displayed on http://www.irisrichardson.com/ and http://www.foodphotography.com/. This will provide the site with an identity.

Photography Categories - at least one category is required
Each photographer will select up to two content categories (specialties) in which to be listed.

Own Domain Name - required after a year
Having one's own domain name is inexpensive and provides for a professional impression, the appearance we want to promote.

Usage/Copyright Statement - required
The site should prominently display information about copyright and usage. A page dedicated to one time usage rates would satisfy this requirement. Requiring individuals to accept a 'web site copyright contract' would also satisfy this requirement.

Usage Rates - recommended
I would recommend the placement of usage rates on the site as well. Below are Excel v5.0 and Clarisworks v4.0 files to facilitate the creation of rate tables. One can enter your usage rates and the spreadsheet generates the html code in another column for you to copy and paste into a text editor. The numbers currently in the spreadsheet are for illustration purposes only. Customize the numbers to your business. You can create usage rate tables in a matter of minutes!

Controversial Web Content
While I do not want to restrict sites that can be listed on stock-photo-research.com, the reality of the situation is that the search engines will penalize this site if it links to any other sites evaluated to be of an adult nature. One also must consider that this site will also have a section dedicated to teaching students of all ages about photography; thus, controversial photographic material will not be listed on this site so software such as 'Net Nanny' will allow access to the site without restriction. Thank you for your understanding.
